Does anyone know an easy way to tighten up the v belt on a aq231. Left hand bottom bolt on a slider, but I’m strangling to lever the alternator to tighten the belt.
Not much space and working blind, ill give it a go with the pliers and see how I get on. Much appreciated.Depending on how much room you have, I use a pair of channel lock pliers and pinch the end of the adjusting bracket and the ear on the alternator which works most times.
There is a tool that wraps around and is “C” shaped and grabs the outer stator ring with a 1/2” female square on the other end that Snap On and other tool companies have.
Hi. If it’s anything like my AQ205 set up was (I think it is)…there is not only the slider bolt to loosen. There is also a swivel bolt to loosen too. After that, I was able to get a bar between the alternator and the engine and lever the alternator to move. Also worth me mentioning that these things were terrible for being miss aligned from new. I was always trying to stop a squeal from it. I know many others had the same issue too.Does anyone know an easy way to tighten up the v belt on a aq231.
