Does anyone know an easy way to tighten up the v belt on a aq231. Left hand bottom bolt on a slider, but I’m strangling to lever the alternator to tighten the belt.

Depending on how much room you have, I use a pair of channel lock pliers and pinch the end of the adjusting bracket and the ear on the alternator which works most times.
There is a tool that wraps around and is “C” shaped and grabs the outer stator ring with a 1/2” female square on the other end that Snap On and other tool companies have.

Not much space and working blind, ill give it a go with the pliers and see how I get on. Much appreciated.

Hi. If it’s anything like my AQ205 set up was (I think it is)…there is not only the slider bolt to loosen. There is also a swivel bolt to loosen too. After that, I was able to get a bar between the alternator and the engine and lever the alternator to move. Also worth me mentioning that these things were terrible for being miss aligned from new. I was always trying to stop a squeal from it. I know many others had the same issue too.
