V bottom aluminum boats?

Do the rub rails half way down the sides of the older starcrafts, sylvans,
etc. provide any structural support or can they be removed permanently.
I removed mine to get it ready for painting and would prefer to leave them off
and just replace the rivets I took out.

Remove it ....if you like. They actually did not come on all and provide only side protection and not any support.

Not to mention they don't seem to line up with any dock in the known universe to acutally provide any useful protection

Thanks for the reply guys, Yea they don't seem very useful and give the boat a dated look. I think the hull will look cleaner without them and I was missing
one of the end caps anyway.

Sell them on ebay I bet you will find a buyer
