V4 cork float question

hello everyone im new to the site and a new boater. I have a 1960 v4 johnson seahorse 75hp motor im rebuilding the carb on it. i picked up a carb rebuild kit and it comes with a replacement cork float. it looks coated but im wondering if it will handle modern ethynol gas. should it be recoated? im not sure if this is old stock or new, i cant seem to get a straight answer,,bought it from mastertech marine. Thanks

I think it is old new stock. All the floats used to be made of cork. I don't think it will handle ethynol very well over a period of time. Not sure if they make a new style float for your carb.

Thanks, im thinking its nos too. i have heard of people giving them a light coat of model airplane fuel proof dope, so i might try that just to be safe.

I have heard of that also, never tried it though.
