Wondering how one would add to the motor mount pedestal for a V6 to v8 swap?

From what I understand I will need to extend/move the motor mount approximately 4 1/2 inches or so...

Thoughts?

Ignore the oil please... I just did an oil change lol

Worst case, you cut out the blocks the motor is bolted to and fiberglass in new ones in new location.

I'm not certain of the dimensional requirements but...If in fact it is only a matter of extending the mount blocks by that amount, then it's simple. Use 3/4" ext. grade plywood to build up to get the dimensions need for the block. Cut to shape. Then grind off the glass/gelcoat on the end of the existing mounts, but the new extensions up to the old ones, bed em in thickened resin and glass em to the hull and old blocks. Re gelcoat and re mount the motor. Two day job MAX!!!!;)

It's also high recommended to replace that plastic fuel filter with a metal cased inline filter or better yet, a water separator/ fuel filter. In the case of a fire the plastic housing will melt and feed the flames.

Thanks! That was what I was hoping I could do...

Couple questions though...

is marine plywood necessary?

And is the gelcoat required after the repair? Is just the glass/resin finish acceptable? Maybe with paint?

Thanks again

As I stated I'd just use 3/4" Ext Grade plywood. Once glassed it'll last for decades. Gelcoat, Paint whatever it will in fact work well exposed but IMHO it's always better to coat it with something. I like Rusoleum PRO oil based paint with hardener. Works well and wears well. Inexpensive too!!!!:D
