HI All,

My 1978 MCM 228 finally became too expensive to fix last Saturday.

As such I'm looking at a replacement boat.

Have my eyes on a 2001 Sea Ray 185 with the 4.3 190hp motor.

Going to look at it tonight. Where on this engine would I find the vac port and what size barb would it be? I want to rule out big problems while the engine is running.

TIA for all your help guys :)

You'll have to pull a plug out of the intake, if there is one. Boat motors don't use vacuum lines very often since the motors don't run very much vacuum. I'd be more inclined to just run a compression check, if they allow you that much wrench time. Do a sea trial for as long as you need. Then pull all the plugs and inspect them, and run compression test.
