Vapor Lock review: Inboard houseing closed now blower got only up to 108 degrees F in 92 degree heat. L pipe aluminum going into my Eldebrock that is attached to a rubber fuel line AREA got up to 131.5 degrees F. The question is that enough to Vapor Lock fuel ??

Re: VAPOR LOCK HEAT QUESTION??

do you understand what a vapor lock is?
and your description is rather vague. fuel boils at a specific temp. fuel under pressure boils at a higher temp while fuel on the suction side(lower pressure) boils at a much lower temp.what seems to be the problem?

Re: VAPOR LOCK HEAT QUESTION??

I have an 1988 OMC 350cc with Rochester 4 bbl Carb. I also have some stalling after a few minutes ride or heated up. It smells rich and boggs down under heavy throttle. I let it sit for a 15 minutes and it runs ok then start to rough out again. I have also felt the hard shifting but can relate the stalling to it yet. Right now, after replacing all the power systems, I am moving to replace carb with and Eldbrock 600 cfm. I think I am running too rich and the floats may be sticking or a mini filter may be plugged after running, then after setting the sediment falls back down opening up the filter again. Just a guess but working on the situation. Hope you find out and post.

Re: VAPOR LOCK HEAT QUESTION??

Bayliner 24.5 foot Capri Sundbridge
350ci OMC GM MOTOR Crate
EDELBROCK 600CFM QUAD JET (Carb Adusted by marine shop.
NEW FUEL FILTER

Boat ran great until "I thought the old carb Rothenberg went bad. After running the boat 10 minutes at 3000 RPM I dropped it down to NO WAKE speed and it stalls. Hard to start then when it does wont take the low speed cruise and stalls.

This year changing to a new carb Edelbrock 600 it still is acting the same way. I beleive it is not the carb but something else I am missing. I changed out the fuel filters and with new lines. If its not the fuel lines or the carbs what could it be? Any one out there had the same issues and resolve??
