My boat has a 125, gal. fuel tank under the deck in a very tight ( no room for anything else ) compartment. The bilge is seperated from the fuel tank
by a bulkhead. Question? Do I need to cut a hole in the bulkhead, and place an exhuast blower there, or will ventilation of the bilge be enough to comply with the Coast Guard regulations? " Boats with gasoline engines in
closed compartments, built after 1 August 1980 must have a powered ventilation system"

I'm confused. What does that regulation have to do with the fuel tank?

Re: Ventilation Question ?

Do you have an outboard engine, if NO, you don't need a blower.
Do you have an Inboard engine, if YES, you need a blower

Re: Ventilation Question ?

I've never seen a blower in a fuel compartment, only the engine compartment, which is required.
