venting gas tank

I have the 6 gallon plastic tank with a vent. I leave it open when running, but should I close it when not running? It seems to build up pressure. with the heat. If left open, does a lot of gas evaporate? Newbie question, be gentle.

I leave mine open all the time, except when stored. Or I did, when I had a plastic tank. If I didn't, it would swell up like a beach ball. Yes, it will loose some gas through evaporation, but it's insignificant. Anyway, gas is cheap, right?
