Hu Guys
Just a queery, just fitted a F50 2009 tp my boat, started it on the muffs, water was luke warm coming from it I increased the revs slightly to see if telltale increased and the water got that hot that I could not keep my hand under it.
Could this be lack of water going through the engine as the muffs leak a bit of water.
Should I try the same procedure in a bucket/tub

Where is the water

Where is the water

Help me out here guys.
Last week I starterd my F50 2009 on the muffs all went well for a few minutes water was just warm and then it got that hot I could not hold my hand under it for any length of time.
There appeared to be plenty of water, it was just hot.
I decided to replace the impeller and refit, started the motor water appeared to be OK but there is no water at all coming from the exhaust port, nothing. The water coming from the pisser is not warm at all.
Its got me scratching my head, please help me.
Cheers

Easy there cowboy...

You won't get water from the exhaust reliefs unless the motor is running in the water - not on muffs. The exhaust reliefs are there to allow the exhaust (and water) to exit without having to deal with excessive backpressure, as would be the case if it had to go out the prop at idle. With the prop not submerged, you won't get much out the reliefs... You should be getting a great deal of water out the prop when running on muffs.

Nobody gets paid for answering questions. No one is sitting here 24/7 waiting for you to ask a question. They get answered when (and if) they get answered. The proper thing to do if you're post isn't getting a response and has slipped off the radar is to simply put a BUMP posting to bring it back to the top. Denigrating the forum will do nothing but cheese people off.

I don't know.

Apparently neither do the 81 people who looked at your post.

Hope that helps.

Re: Where is the water

my C40TLRX does not put out any water from Exhaust relief ports on muffs or in water,
But it has not hurt anything for the last couple of years
it worried me at first as my old jonneyrudes always put out lots from there

Tell tail will not run hot, warm is all I have seen

Check out this previous thread regarding "hot" telltale discharges: http://forums.iboats.com/mercury-mariner-outboards/hot-water-tell-tale-398028.html

A quick internet search pulled up similar thoughts about t-stats and clogged discharge holes. It sounds like you should do some more web surfing and then try a few of these easy checks. You could also talk to a Yamaha repair shop
