Verify Oil flow on 89 DT200?

I'm looking to purchase a boat with twin 1989 DT200 engines that have not ran in over 4 years. They are low hour motors (350-400) and when we looked at the boat the motors started right up on fresh fuel but I only ran them for about 10 seconds since I was not sure if the oil injection was working correctly. I was afraid it may have become clogged from sitting so long. Both oil tanks were filled before the boat was stored years ago.

I'm wondering if there's any way to verify the flow of oil with the motors running so I can run them longer.

Thanks,
Rob

Short of running them and observing the oil flow or the drop in oil reservoir, probably not. However, the Suzuki oil injection system is very good and if you clean the tanks and the oil screen and flush out the old oil, it will probably be OK. You might think about replacing the oil lines and check valves if they are old and cracked. If the engines have not been run in 4 years its going to need a water pump impeller and probably a carb rebuild unless its EFI.

Ok, thanks. I'm definately going to clean the oil tank and lines and replace all the fuel/oil lines. I'm also going to be doing water pumps and possibly rebuilding the carbs. They were drained before the motors were stored so I'm hoping the carbs may be ok.

Thanks,
Rob
