Re: Very good information about line stretch!

I always wondered about that. Not that I think advertisers have tried to pull the wool over our eyes at all. Seems that if all the time and money spent developing a line it would be a reason to brag if it was all that good. There are so many variables. But good post non-the-less!

But then again every type of fishing has it's own criteria according to the individual fisherman. So. In conclusion there is no conclusion. Just whatever helps you decide what to use (if you are going to change your line every time you go fishing).

Yes there is, "BUT"!

After reading it I got all wound up about it and was going to go to the local sporting goods store and buy a bunch of line, But I caught myself and gave myself a head slap. DOH!

I then went back and looked at it carefully and decided that because I dont tournament fish anymore, and some of the results were not that far apart that the lines that I have are just fine. I may go to more florocarbons in the future though when I run out of my present stock. Which by the way may be sometime in 2010.

Gosh Im proud of myself for not spending even more money on fishing.

I'm not going out either just yet to buy more, but i've never used any of the fusion stuff yet,but since ive been using the flurocarbon on my worm rod i do get more bites and better hookups,it may coincendce but i dont think so,the only down fall is it is sorta brittle when cutting it,but i pulled in a 20lb drum on it last year and had no problams, and it does seem to coil a little.
The power pro im a firm beliver in i havent any problems with it at all,and i love to rat fish and buzzbait.

How do you know when you have to large of a supply of fishing stuff? I have a little more than a bass pro store, do you think i need more? My wife dosent think so. Just curious.

I dont deal in kilos much, not in my line of business. I understand a meter stick however, I think we had one of thoes when I was in Highschool back in the 1800s . best of my recolection it was sumthin like 39" long. :D

I love that fireline fusion.
Couldn't stand it anymore. Earlier today I told the guys "later". Grabbed some old rod that was here at the shop. Flimsy thing with monofilament on it. I think it was a $20.00 wally world special 5 years ago.
Knocked the dust off of it and away I went.
Found some hooks and frogs on the dash of my truck and I was ready.
Fishing from the bank. Lost the first two back to back.
I adjusted quickly though. When one would swirl on my frog, I'd reel down and take a step back as I was setting the hook.
Felt like I was fishing with a rubber band...lol.

I know that "rubber band" feeling. Original Stren feels that way to me. I've long ago switched to Fireline and was going to try Flouro for the first time, out of curiosity. My wife likes Stren so I'll let her try the Flouro first after seeing the stretch report.
I've grown accustomed to feeling every weed bump and lure wiggle. It definately takes the doubt out of whether a fish is nibbling, especially walleyes!

Good artical. I decided I wasnted to flouro to use for leaders while walleye fishing so I went out and bought some Berkley Vanish 13 pound flouro that I planned to use with 14 pound fireline mainline.

First thing I noticed was how much stretch was in the Vanish line. I couldn't believe it. It felt like a rubber band. Much more slinky than any mono I ever used. I was expecting it to have less stretch than mono but it definately had more.
