Hello, a buddy of mine has recently "decided" that he needs to do some trailer shopping. He has a 1995 SeaRay 220 Signature Select BR. It has the 7.4L/Bravo I. Capacity for 375lbs fuel & 125lbs of fresh water. Two group 31 Batteries. Hyd. trim tabs. Other misc. gear & equipt.

NADA lists the weight as 4,000lbs with the 5.0L/Alpha I. I'm not convinced of NADA's accuracy.

The boat (recently purchased used from a reputable local boat dealer) came with a single axle Calkins galv. trailer. The trailers tongue placard lists max capacity as 4,250. After using the boat throughout this summer quite a bit and very recently a 400 road-mile round trip fishing expedition, the trailer is now TU'd. Where the pole tongue meets the A-frame (right under the bow roller/winch) the trailer has separated... permanently. He limped the boat home this afternoon.

Anyone know the actual weight of this boat? He has no desire to drive the boat/trailer in it's current ("Red Green Show" -:D) band-aided "condition" to a scale. I haven't seen it yet, but I heard the words "2X4s and 4x4s with steel wire and duct tape", "trailer is totaled and some serious gel-coat repairs needed" over the phone...

I'd just love to read a reply of x,xxxlbs ( give or take ).

Thanks, I appreciate it.

Re: Vessel Weight

Just checked the SeaRay sight, they list the Dry Weight at 4000 lbs, this weight is with the basic package so the one you are talking about is a little heavier. To me if trailer is rated at 4250 it is overloaded by the time you get fuel, oil, water and all the stuff you load in a boat.

Mine is close to 4500# with a full tank, tower, smallerengine/b3, and no fresh water. I have a tandem axle trailer.

The tires alone are overloaded with that setup unless they are 8 ply 225 15s or bigger which I doubt. The 4250 should include the weight of the trailer too. Reputable or not, that Dealer should be skewered . . . I'd bet you're over 5K . . .

Well the after some pressure. The dealer has agreed to take care of the damage to the boat and sell a brand new tandem axle 6,000 lb bunk style trailer with 4-wheel surge for only $2,000. I guess it better than a visit from the IRS or a poke in the eye with a dull spoon. **shrug**

I think I'd want the dealer to take of the damage and give me a trailer for nothing. The initial purchase price included a trailer. If the trailer they supplied was wrong and caused damage, I don't think it's fair that your friend has to pay $2000 for a trailer when he thought he was getting one with the boat. Why should he be out $2000 for their screw up?

I am inclined to agree with nitsuj, he bought a boat and trailer, they gave him the wrong trailer, they should replace with the correct trailer at no charge.
