Just thought I would provide this information on the Vetus joysticks for the Vetus bow thruster. Since I had to work through it.
If you have a several years old Vetus joystick the gray wire from the joystick provides +12V when the joystick is "turned on". The gray wire may or may not be used but if it's used it's typically used for a main power solenoid.
If your joystick breaks (mine did) and your order a new Vetus joystick (same model number) the gray wire on the new Vetus joystick now provides -12V when the joystick is "turned on".
As I said if the gray wire from the joystick is not used then just plug in the new joystick and everything should work. But if the gray wire is used then you need to do a little rewiring to get the new Vetus joystick to work
I did not see any mention of this change in the instructions that came in the new joystick box. But when I contacted Vetus I was able to find our and then do the minor rewiring on my boat.
