I found a product made by Shakespeare that advertises as a VHF/AM/FM band separator. It states you can use it to connect one antenna to both your VHF radio and AM/FM radio. Do you think both radios can be used at the same time? Will there be interference? Thanks-

Re: VHF/AM/FM Question

matt25,
I highly doubt there would be any interference between radio's.Reason being, you are dealing with three different band types.AM(amplitude modulation),FM(frequency modulation)and VHF(Very High Frequency).Since your AM/FM radio is a receiver only and on a different band then your VHF(transceiver),interference should be nil. ;)

Re: VHF/AM/FM Question

Matt
I think the recievers should work fine but not too sure about the FM reciever while transmiting on the VHF. It could be that the FM is cut out while transmitting. If it is not you will at least get desense. The VHF 156mhz-157mhz and FM 88mhz-108mhz are both FM. The VHF is narrow band FM while the FM radio is Wide band. I would check out Shakespeare web site and see if can find more info.
