How do I know if I need a DC grounded antenna or not?
I was looking at the Shakespeare 5102 and the 5102.
On their website the only difference is DC ground but I cannot find any info to help me decide if I need DC ground or not...

Re: VHF Antenna. Ground or no ground...

I think you are confused about the information provided by the manufacturer regarding the DC continuity of the antenna at its feed point. Some antennas will show a DC short circuit at their input. This does not mean that the radiator of the antenna is also at DC ground. It just means that if you were to measure the DC resistance of the antenna's input, it will show continuity. The radiator of the antenna does not necessarily have to also be at DC ground.

In either case, I don't see any particular basis to prefer an antenna on the basis of whether or not its input has DC continuity. It is really not a basis to make a decision on an antenna.
