I have a Cobra MR-F80 (EU) which came with my new (old) boat. Unfortunately the I/O cable was missing. If any one has one of these "NMEA and auxiliary I/0 connector" wires could you please try and determine the pin-out from the 8-pin DIN to the different wire colours as listed in the manual (beep them out with a multi-meter). I mainly need the 8-pin socket numbers for the NMEA wires (Purple, Grey, Green, White). I can then buy a DIN and wire up my GPS to the radio. I have been E-mailing Cobra support continually but they seem to be ignoring me (or maybe they ignore everyone?).

Thanks for any help,
Ash.

It should be as easy as removing the boot / dissembling the connector on the radio.

But the 8-pin DIN connector is on a flying lead out the back of the radio, all moulded and waterproof. Also I have no guarantee that if I get into that lead that it would have the same colour wires as the colours listed in the manual for the "NMEA and auxiliary I/0 connector" wires.

The connector isn't on a pigtail?

I had the same issue with my radio/ CD player. Off to Radio shack to pickup a pair of mating connectors. Wire strippers, something to crimp the pins and a beverage of your choice,.....you're done.

Many thanks to Leona from Cobra Europe (actually in Dublin). She sent me a cable from an ex-display unit :)

For the record the pin-out for the 8-pin DIN male is:
