When my engine is running, you could visually see a "side to side" viabration of the damper. This causes the engine to viabrate excessively.
It is a 1988 3.0 Mercruiser engine.
Should I change the damper?
How involved is the repair?

Thanks.

Oil pressure is around 40psi. I think it is within normal range.

damper is generaly pretty tight fit on crank. if outer ring has come loose i wouldn't run it. that ring coming off at high rpm can be just too exciting. remove pulley, remove crank bolt, attach a puller and pull it off is the usual procedure. never done it on a 3.0 nor do i know what might be in the way like a motor mount. don't hammer on it putting it back on. that can damage the outer ring. good luck.
