Vibration in transom

Today I noticed a vibration in the transom when I have the wheel turned hard in either direction. Only seems to happen when in gear. Doesn't seem to happen on the muffs in the driveway. If this is the case, can it still be the u-joints? I greased them before installing the outdrive. How about the gimbal bearing? I greased that too! I am hoping it's not serious. I just put this boat together and am having a great time with it so far, motor is runng great after rebuild.

Unfortunetly I myself had similar noises and turned out to be the u-joints which was the least of my problems but hey I needed to rebuild the upper and lower sooner or later! . heh John

It's possible that the drive is out of alignment. You will get a vibration if this occurs.<br /><br />Was the out drive easy to press back into place?<br /><br />TMD

Yes, the drive was very easy to install. Semed to go right in, just a little jiggling and went right into the coupler. Then used the bolts for the last 1/2 inch. I was planning on using it for the rest of the summer and replacing the u-joints and gimbal bearing in the spring. I only get out on weekends.

Thanks Bondo.<br />Was just looking for a little encouragement....I don't think I will cause any damage using it the way I am for this season. I can play with it in the fall and spring.......winter is too cold to work outside!

could you be feeling the prop rotate? you wiil feel this in slow turns with light power. can you feel it in the wheel. or was someone else driving and you were in the back seat?
