When im trying to record my flyers games when i choose to do it in Divx format with my capture device i get a message that if the file goes over 2GB that most devices will not be able to decode it and the recording will stop at 2gb. Well my cd's only hold about 720 MB or so anyways. Im just trying to record the games without choosing dvd quality. When i record a game that is 2.5 hours long in dvd quality it takes up 7.3 GB of my hard drive space. So i tried to choose divx mpeg-4 so as not use up so much space. Im using the ADS dvd express DX2 capture device. It works awesome as far as recording the games on my pc but im just not sure about some of the formats. I download a lot of divx movies from limewire all the time and burn them to a regular cd-r and i can watch them in a regular dvd player. As long as its not more than about 720 MB it fits on the cd and works fine. Anyone know anything about video formats and would like to share some info on how i should do the recording without using up so much space on my HDD? Thanks in advance!

Re: Video capture questions, Divx???

On my card you can setup your own custom profiles to record TV

It is in the menu I use a WMV profile that works well on my portable device

It is trial and error as many times a computer can not do that good of a job with the quality when doing that much compression on the FLY

Vs recording at MPEG-2 and using a program to convert it to Divx (which can take MANY hours ;) even overnight  on a 2 pass encode
