Re: video from work

That was an interesting account of your life and work. I appreciate seeing what your routine was like. Thank you.

Got a question.
I can understand you being established on the low ground to isolate the opposition from a village (or many villages), to control communications (roads etc), and access to water and supplies routes, but do you have permanent/fixed outposts on the high ground to prevent the opposition free movement? Do you patrol those hills and put in ambush points at likely points.

If I was the opposition commander, I am not sure your firepower and air support would deter me to much in that terrain. Just my opinion, and I am probably wrong anyway.

Thanks again for the video tho.

Cheers
Phillip

No you're right on, if we have to setup shop in the low ground we put OPs (observation posts) in the highspots. Makes it easier to defend when you know they're coming. I never really pulled the camera out when we were out on walking, had too much else going on. We used that fire base to provide cover for the foot patrols. The only way in and out of that village was by bird too. Made things even more interesting.

Re: video from work

Thank you dirtdiver.

It gives us just a small idea of what you and so many others go through over there. I know helicopter people who have been over and back but unless they offer info I don't press. They don't offer much.

Again, thank you, and give your loved ones huge hugs from us. They went through their own kind of hell worrying about you.

Re: video from work

Dirtdiver, thanks for your part in OEF....

I dont mean to hijack the OP thread, I can delete and repost, thought i would toss it here anyhow...

my TC and me made this vid after our OIF 08-10 tour. Its the daily life of combat patrols near the tigris. No fobbits or pog's here....

if anyhow has done some time there, they know what i mean when routes are black/red/green... a large town our platoon worked, thats right just platoon, we were outposted from the rest of the company all by our lonesome, anyhow, our AO was black for 8 months, then we worked it for 6 months until it all went to **** and went black again...

anyway, this is a happier daily grind of a 3 man Combat MP team in Iraq... enjoy

A huge debt of gratitude is owed to yourself and everyone else that stands up for the rights of the civilized world.
Thoughts and prayers are constantly with you. That was an eye opener for me as to the reality of it all.
