Hey guys. Do any of you know of a site that shows vintage (40's-50's) gas powered trolling motors? I don't mean "small outboards" that are used as trollers, but actual gas powered "trolling" motors. My granddad has one in his barn that he showed me today, but I can't remember the company that made it. I believe it started with a "C". Example: Clarke Trolling Company. It was definately (Name here) Trolling Company. It only weighed about 20lbs, and was mostly all aluminum. The fuel tank was made on to it. Very wierd looking creature to say the least. I would call him to see if he remembers, but I'd hate to disturb him this late. Any help is appreciated.

That's it guys!!!! Bond-O, thanks for moving it for me! tx and mrcrabs, thank you! mrcrabs, looks like it can be a contrary little contraption to get running. Next time I'm at my granddad's house, I'll get the serial # from the plate. Were there many of these made and are there many still in existance? I would like to see if this little oldie runs. Are parts available for them?

Thanks again guys!!

I've seen pictures of those, but have never seen one run. That is a pretty rare & collectable little outboard so I'd suggest taking good & careful care of it. Parts availability(?)...... yea, good luck. You have to love the idea of wrapping the starter cord around the prop hub -- try that today!

Ok, guys. I'm wondering... is this a 3,6,or 12v coil. Since it has no magneto, you have to supply voltage to the coil from an external source. It has the wires hanging down from the top to apparently hook to a battery. Also, where can I find a replacement spark plug? It's very very tiny, maybe a little over an inch long. I've been around outboards and sold automotive parts for quite a few years, but I've never seen a spark plug like this! Very interesting outboard to say the least. Thanks everyone!
