I am reupholstering my 1975 16' ski boat. It is an older boat that sits in my garage when not in use. The question is; Should I buy marine grade vinyl to recover the seats or can I use normal vinyl to save some costs?

Re: Vinyl for seats

Stick with marine vinyl.I used regular vinyl once and it changed color right away after it got damp and wet.It was white and got pink blotches in it.There is a fabric store called Joanns here in NY and they carry marine vinyl for only a buck or two more than regular .I would spend the extra money and use the right stuff so you will do the job only once.Charlie

Check these folks out, great prices and great products located in MS

web page

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/yourautotrim-store/index.html

WORD OF ADVICE make sure you use a thick vinyl. if you dont it will wear out fairly quick and you will be redoing it again. I bought vinyl from joanns down here and it was very thing and now there are a lot of knicks in it. Now I get to redo the whole thing again with better quality vinyl. Spend a few bucks on a better quality vinyl and save youself the trouble I am having.

T
