Visual indicator for Mercury Audible Alerts?

this past weekend i realized i was receiving audible alerts from my Merc outboard indicating my oil injection was failing - a BEEP BEEP BEEP... (making progress with this in a different thread, thanks to your feedback).

at first, i didn't realize the alert was signaling. we were running at a pretty good pace (with it being 2 cycle, you know how loud that can be), against a steady wind and with the radio blaring. it took a minute or so for me to realize the alert was sounding. my alert horn must be hidden somewhere within my center console. i'd like to put an LED or light indicator on my dash to get a visual notification in addition to the audible alert. Seems like it could be doable, assuming the indicating horn is probably simple electrical contact triggered on and off from the engine. could i tap into that same alert horn power/ground source to extend the alert to also power a bulb?

Use a 12V LED. Connect the positive lead to +12V (the +12V terminal on any of the gauges will work for this). Connect the negative lead of the LED to the ground side of the horn. When the horn sounds, the LED will light. The temp switch on the engine grounds the horn so the LED receives ground at that time and therefore turns on.

I put a loud sonalert in mine. It scares me, but I hear it. I think I'm going to rig a time delay in it so I don't have to duck when the self test beeps happen.
