Who would have thunk it??

It's a wonderful thing this Vodka! Gonna get some now!

1. To remove a bandage painlessly, saturate the bandage with vodka. The solvent dissolves the adhesive.

2. To clean the caulking around bathtubs and showers, fill a trigger-spray bottle with vodka, spray the caulking, let set five minutes and wash clean. The alcohol in the vodka kills mould and mildew.

3. To clean your eyeglasses, simply wipe the lenses with a soft, clean cloth dampened with vodka. The alcohol in the vodka cleans the glass
and kills germs.

4. Prolong the life of razors by filling a cup with vodka and letting your safety razor blade soak in the alcohol after shaving. The vodka disinfects the blade and prevents rusting.

5. Spray vodka on vomit stains, scrub with a brush, then blot dry.

6. Using a cotton ball, apply vodka to your face as an astringent to cleanse the skin and tighten pores.

7. Add a jigger of vodka to a 12-ounce bottle of shampoo. The alcohol cleanses the scalp, removes toxins from hair, and stimulates the growth of healthy hair.

8. Fill a sixteen-ounce trigger-spray bottle and spray bees or wasps to kill them.

9. Pour one-half cup vodka and one-half cup water in a Zip-lock freezer bag, and freeze for a slushy, refreshable ice pack for aches, pain, or black eyes.

10. Fill a clean, used mayonnaise jar with freshly picked lavender flowers, fill the jar with vodka, seal the lid tightly and set in the sun for three days. Strain liquid through a coffee filter, then apply the tincture to aches and pains.

11. Make your own mouthwash by mixing nine tablespoons powdered cinnamon with one cup vodka. Seal in an airtight container for two weeks. Strain through a coffee filter. Mix with warm water and rinse your mouth. Don't swallow.

12. Using a q-tip, apply vodka to a cold sore to help it dry out.

13. If a blister opens, pour vodka over the raw skin as a local anesthetic that also disinfects the exposed dermis.

14. To treat dandruff, mix one cup vodka with two teaspoons crushed rosemary, let sit for two days, strain through a coffee filter and massage into your scalp and let dry.

15. To treat an earache put a few drops of vodka in your ear. Let set for a few minutes. Then drain. The vodka will kill the bacteria that is causing pain in your ear.

16. To relieve a fever, use a washcloth to rub vodka on your chest and back as a liniment.

17. To cure foot odor, wash your feet with vodka.

18. Vodka will disinfect and alleviate a jellyfish sting.

19. Pour vodka over an area affected with poison ivy to remove the urushiol oil from your skin.

20. Swish a shot of vodka over an aching tooth. Allow your gums to absorb some of the alcohol to numb the pain.

Or my personal favorite:

21. If all else fails, just turn the bottle up and drink it, nothing will matter anymore anyway!

Sounds as though you should do just about everything with vodka, except drink it.

Can you pour vodka on leaves and light it to get a fire going?

........i've heard its not a good idea to use gas. :p

My Favourite... drop a couple of chillis (the ones you need protective clothing and breathing aparatus to handle.) into a bottle of vodka, leave for 3 or 4 months to stew and then drink the vodka, its very refreshing but try not to spill to much on sensitive unprotected parts of your body.

dm

A favorite russian thing is putting mushrooms and spices in vodka let them sit for a few weeks and then have pickled mushrooms.

Fwiw, pure vodka is grain alcohol and water. It has no taste. Almost all the vodkas sold in bottles is flavored.

Take one, large, ripe picnic watermelon.

Cut a plug out of the top. Slowly add 1 fifth vodka. Replace plug.

Chill for 6-8 hours.

Slice, serve, and warm up the camcorder. :)

Stolichnaya Fresh from the Freezer in a Glass.

Stolichnaya has recently become available here again, and it is quickly turning me into an alcoholic. :)
Kicks Grey Goose and Chopin all over the place.

Back during the Regan years we used to get something really good from Russia... Moskava or something. Green label and inferiorly produced caps anyway.

I guess after the breakdown of communism in Russia the NSLC (Goverment run liquor stores here) couldn't get a reliable supply of the above vodka, and so they dropped it. How I miss it. :(

OK, time to get out of Dockside Chat now!

JB - you're old. Vodka/whisky has not been available in 5th's for ... well, I don't want to talk about it ... I'm old, too. :)

It might be 750ml, but single malt is a tough one to beat.

Re: Vodka, its a wonderful thing

i'm crazy for letting this recipe out of the bag. i swear it tastes good (wouldn't think so by the ingredients). women seem to love it, and it's extremely strong. funny thing is, you really don't taste any alcohol...

super punch:

1 case of light beer (i prefer coors)
1 750ml bottle of vodka
3 2 liter bottles of ginger ale
1 1/2 cans of powder hi-c fruit punch mix(needs to be citrus flavor)
ice

mix in a large cooler. great for picnics.
