i have a 88 125hp and i finally got my guages working. i noticed while at the lake today that the tach is reading at about 4200rpm at wot and the fuel guage is at 1/2 which should about right since i put ten gallons in this am. but my question is this.... now that the volt meter appears to be working i am concerned about the reading it is giving. at no wake speeds it is fine, right about 13volts but when i go wot it goes up to 16ish volts. is that normal? or is there a problem with the charging system.
thanks for any replies.

Normal.

Its pretty much an unregulated system.
Your battery is there to take up much of the over voltage.
Make sure you never disconnect your battery while the engine is running, or the excess voltage will damage the other components.
