Hello to all ! Firt time here ! and glad to have found this place !
I due have some questions thoght.
First off , my boat is a 1995 crusers with single volvo penta 454 duelprop . My volt meter on the dash board (house or start gauge ,not sure yet but suspect starting battery gauge ) is showing voltage seems to drop from 14.2 to 10 .7 after crusing at speed for a trip with throtle open , when at idle , the voltage meter shows normal 14.2 as it"s charging . I just noticed this last time out . Both my start Battery and house battery are in good working condition , relitivly new , tested with a load tester . Is it possible the alternator can not keep up ? It should have been sized correct from volvo . I do not cruise using any other draw from the battery . ?

n
if your getting your readings from the guage on the boat they arent realy very good for solveing problems

are there any other problems with the electric on the boat

the best thing you can due is hook up a real voltage meter to the battery and see what is going on it sounds like the system is keeping the batterys charged and your guage is just jumpy

tommays

Re: Voltage after a 45min. cruse

I am not having a problem , I did notice the volts were down while under way , and come right back when at idle . As if I am using up power faster than making it . I dont recall this before , but I have not gone far for a while . Thanks
