My voltage gauge shows 12.5 and then on high throttle it goes down to 10.5.

I put a voltage tester in my cig adapter hole and it shows 13.5volts. I replaced all gauges and it shows the same low reading? I replaced the standard 50 amp alt to a 145 amp single line out to battery. Would cutting out the wires from the regulator effect the gauge?? Any thoughts out there..thanks.

Re: Voltage Flux ???

You gotta have a voltage regulator, the alternator voltage will keep climbing without one until fuses blow or a meltdown. A 145amp alt will power a small town, I hope you replaced the nessesary wiring also.

It sounds to me like you have a bad connection at the dash voltage gauge. 13.5v at the cig socket means that the alt is working or you voltage tester is faulty.

Aldo

Yes, all wires have been replaced to the alt and to the batts. Reg external wires to all the gauges are the same. Volts to the cig lighter remains high but the new volt gauge, same as the old gauge still goes low and never goes above 12.5. Strange the cig gets a 13.5 but the fancy gauges dont? Do you think a volt meter put on the leads to the gauge would help and with the gauge disconnected??
