voltage meter spike!

hello everyone.....everytime when i turn on my blower my voltage meter draws big time the needle moves a good 1/8,its a new battery and its the only electronic thats draws the much(radio,cig lighter,fish finder,lites,horn,bilge)is this normal?is it hook up wrong?i turn on the blower and its pretty loud(shop vac loud)any help or ideas would be great thanks!!! <br /> ***1971 18' winner 1969 115 jonny***

If the motor is that loud, sounds like it has a bearing going out, and the armature is dragging. This could give a high current draw.

maybe rj i dont know just seems vac cleaner loud not really any bearing noise.i was thinking it mite be to big or hooked wrong with the spike.maybe just paranoid thanks for any help.

a little more info would help...<br /><br />...is this blower new ?<br />...has it always run this loud ?<br />...are the wires connected properly and clean ?<br />...is the wire large enough gauge ?<br />...does it always do it ?<br />...is there any leaves or debris in it ?<br />...did you disconnect it to make sure the motor turns freely ?<br /><br />also just a hint:...when working on electrical problems, make sure you have disconnected all sources of electricity...gas fumes don't mix well with sparks !!!<br /><br />let us know what you find<br /><br />Mike
