I noticed on my volt gauge was showing around 15 volts while running. i had the alternator tested and the voltage regulator was shown to be bad. i replaced the alternator with a brand new. it showed to be charging at around 12.5 volts for the first 20-30 minutes, then it started running at 15 volts just like the previous one. i haven't had this new alternator tested yet but believe the voltage regulator to be bad on this one too. what could be causing these to go bad?

Re: voltage regulator/alternator issues

It charge 13.5~14.5 when idle.
I've seen it high as 15.3.
usually internal voltage sensor fails.
If your battery isn't holding a charge could shorten it's life but not this quick.
I would measure with a good multi-meter,,,
