Hello all,

I must be losing my mind...

I thought I remembered being able to change the drive bellows on my AQ125/270A WITHOUT removing the upper gear housing or pulling the entire drive off. I replaced the bellows 4 years ago and THOUGHT there was enough play in the drive spline to slide it out some with the drive fully tilted up as long as the u-joint was properly aligned to pull a little down and back.

Am I wrong?

If so, what's the easiest way? My drive bellows failed on year 4.... Had always replaced them myself every 3 years. (and I don't remember pulling the upper gear housing!!) Now I see what happens when you try to stretch things.

My thanks in advance for your expertise.

Re: Volvo 270 upper bellows replacement

Thank you Sir. Anything else I should do with the u-joint other than check for play and any grease leaking (there was none)

Many thanks,

Bob

Well I'm replacing mine this week. I'm glad you asked this question, or I would have at some point this week.

Not much else to check with ujoints. You should check the driveshaft that the ujoint yoke slips over for side to side play. There should be none.
