Volvo 3.0 l front motor mount

I have a 1996 Regal boat with a Volvo 3.0 l. The front motor mount has a worn rubber cushion that is obsolete. I have seen the Mercruiser mount and am wondering if it will work? From my understanding they are both GM blocks so the holes should line up where they attach to the block. I also wonder if the there will be enough clearance around the pulleys and belts? Has anybody ever swapped one of these out before? Or does anybody have any ideas on whether it will work?? Thanks in advance.

If your rubber mount looks like this it's a 3853789 and shows up all over the internet.

If I can find parts for my 1988, there is no reason you cant find parts for your 1996. go to volvopentastore.com and get the part you need.

Well I appreciate the responses. I have talked to them at the Volvo Penta store and they are the ones that told me that this part is obsolete. I have searched the part number Wrench has listed above 3853789 and although the part shows up on many websites all of them say it's no longer available or obsolete. This is why I have posted the question above. Thank you

Have you tried BRP? That is an OMC part number.

I have not tried BRP. Without a part number how would I find it? Or do I use the OMC part number? Sorry for my ignorance on this, I've always searched Volvo part numbers. Thanks for your help

I have since gone to BRP's parts catalog website and they show the part on there. I phoned them and a dealer and they tell me the same thing, the part is obsolete!! Back to square one, trying to find out if the Mercruiser front mount will work. Just wondering also if I could use a newer year Volvo part, perhaps a 2000 or newer?? Not sure if the block was changed at all from 1996 to 2000 or newer. Any ideas for a solution would help. Thanks to all.

I'm afraid that I can't say for sure if the Mercruiser mount assembly would work. It would definitely bolt to the engine, but not sure if it would interfere with your raw water pump.

I think Wrench3 is right in that the water pump is going to interfere with a Mercruiser mount.

Looks like newer Volvos may have mounts on both sides of the engine.

To wrap this one up, I went to a wrecker and picked up a used Mercruiser mount. It fit perfectly without interfering with anything on the Volvo parts. A happy ending!! Thanks to all who contributed
