Volvo 4.3 210 Horsepower Max RPM

I just bought a 2000 Sanpan 2500LE that has a Volvo 4.3 210 horsepower engine. When the throttle is all the way forward the rpms max out at 3200. Anyone have similar experience with this top of engine. Could it be possible the throttle cable needs to be adjusted. First boat so this question might be a bad one.

YOu have entered into a whole wolrd of mechanical issues.

If the throttle and motor are operating correctly, you have a prop issue or you guage doesn't work. As a first time boat owner, you should get help at a marina for this problem. Your motor should be somewhere between 4500 and 5000.

Head up to the Adults Only sticky at the top of this forum. Then have a look at item #12 causes for low WOT rpm.

I believe the spec for the 4.3L V-6 is 4400 to 4800 rpm at wide open throttle.

Could having the motor trimmed to low having a major impact? I had it trimmed all the way down and was generating 3200 rpm.

Go to the link below, and download an owners manual for your engine. Best to use a FULL model number or the Volvo SN for your engine. The year you posted may be the year of your boat, but your engine could be either newer or older than that depending on the month the boat was manufactured.
