I have a 4.3 gl-c volvo penta. Here is the problem: After sitting for "any" amount of time the boats starts and runs about a 100 yards and dies out. Fuel filter only has a 1/4 inch of gas in it. I have jumped the #30 and #87 leads to the fuel pump and it kicks on and the boat starts and runs great until I stop and try to restart. I have checked and it seems I am popping the relay on the fuel pump. Why? Is it getting hot or a lose connections. I am not sure what to go check for next.

Re: volvo 4.3 gl-c fuel pump problems

Now I have had the relay checked and it is working. I also changed out the ignition switch. What is keeping power from going from the relay to the pump to engerize it? I am not sure what to check next.
1. Fuel pump is good.
2. Relay is good.
3. New ignition switch
4. Power to relay is good
5. No power from relay to pump. What is not closing to finish the curcuit.

Help

Lets see if I can get this right. I have power on lead #87 on the relay, #30 isn't getting power because the curcuit isn't closing, I have no power coming to the other 2 terminals, what powers the other leads that close the curcuit that allows power to #30 that leads to the fuel pump.
