Good morning all. Own a 1998 Glastron 185 FS. This carries a 4.3gl Volvo Penta IO. Engine ID 4110168702.
Ok so current issue is... I replaced fuel pump 2 weeks ago because when replacing the livewell aerator I knelt on the plastic connector and cracked it off. (So difficilt to get your body in there to work on things!)

Symptoms are...it will start and run good at 1st. Then after a couple hours when I throttle up to take off it will just bog out and die.
After it dies, impossible to restart. This has happened out on the lake now several times and is boggling to me.

It cranks and seems to want to fire but no fuel. Pump accelerator and no fuel from jets. The fuel pump is running when key key turned to start as I can feel it.
Takes over an hour sometimes to get it going, but eventually it will.
Not overheating, at less than 200 when this happens.
When it is working I get fuel when exercising the accelerator, and runs great. But no fuel spraying into carb after this happens.

Im thinking of just replacing the fuel pump with a better one? Bought a cheaper replacement off Amazon.
what could or should I check? I took off and reinstalled all fuel lines and connections from tank to carb and saw / felt no restrictions or debris.

Thanks for any input in advance.

I'm think one of 3 things in this order
Tank vent line is clogged and your drawing a vacuum on the tank
Antisiphonvalve is sticking
Weak fuel pump

When it won't start, open the gas cap and listen for air to suck in. If no air is heard then that's not the issue

Remove the fuel line from the gas tank going to the filter. Then remove the barbed fitting off the tank, this is the antisiphon valve. See if its clogged

Place a fuel pump pressure gauge between pump and carb and see what the pressure is between idle to WOT

Thanks AllDodge for the reply. These are great sugestions. I will check all 3 in that order.
Need to find my tank vent, and the antisiphon valve is a ***** to get to on this boat...Ill have to research how to remove the floor board covering it.

I will let you know the results.
