It really is a lot easier than you would think. Make sure you have enough head room for your hoist to clear the boat to get it out. And do like Bondo say's. There are two more engine bolts on the back of the engine also. I finally got a chain hoist, and it is rated for 3500lbs. and that was ten times safer than cable come-alongs. When you just start to slide it out, then you can get to ground wires and outdrive cooling water hose easier. Dave-R

Thank guys! Ive got the lower unit off and the engine mounts loose. I just wanted to make sure there was nothing else in the back that might be holding it. Ill post some pics next time Im working on it. I have to do some transom repair. Reason for pulling engine.

Thanks - I've got a '99 200 BR so I'd love to use your project to learn from in the event I ever come across issues.

I just removed a 4.3 Volvo from a bowrider. Set up should be pretty similar minus 2 cylinders...
It was my first time also.
1. Take a lot of pictures.... Of everything you'd be surprised how handy these are.
2. I took all my accessories- water pump alt etc etc off in the boat. I could move my trailer in shade in garage for varing weather conditions. It also gave a close by chair to stretch out on to enjoy a brk time adult beverage.
3. Zip lock bags- label general area where bolts/studs came from and seal them up until reuse.
4. Mine had hoist "bars" mounted to a cars passenger side front and drivers side back of the heads to hoist out a long blk.. I took mine down to short blk for removal. Just a matter of choice and where and how much weight you wanna move.
4. Besides motor mounts I had two slotted bolts that locked the bell housing to the inside of boat 's out drive. Beside electrical and water plumbing, and throttle cable ( unless I forgot something) those 4 bolts will set "it" free.
5. I can't stress enough about the pictures- where bolts go as opposed to studs and all the grounds. My pictures were life saviors..
Hope this helps.

Just took mine out with a friend a comalong and a backhoe. I removed exhaust manifolds and risers. Made it more roomy and only took an additional ten minutes.
