Re: volvo 5.7 gxi clicking from auto tensioner
Yeah I understand that, but it seems like a lot is going wrong with a pretty new engine. Last October I had to have the trim pump replaced which was covered under warranty, then 6 month later ( out of warranty) I have the starter needing to be replaced, trim pump hose that has a leak which requires all 4 hoses to be replaced plus the pump again because water got inside, and now the tensioner. The boat is kept in the water so each time I have to pay for the haul out, storage while parts are being ordered, and mechanic travel to the boat. For a new boat with only 80 hours this seems a little crazy. It seems like every year I pay over $1000 for repairs on a brand new engine. The engine on my sail boat is 30 years old and all i ve replaced is a water pump, impellers, and hoses! Is there any way I can get an extended warranty from volvo at this point, or any kind of recourse? The original warranty was up in March, and I was never offered an extended warranty at purchase? On their website I can not find a customer service number to call, just an address to send a letter. The dealer where i purchased the boat is too far to take it when it breaks down so i have been using a volvo penta auth repair co. and they say they cant help. BTW is this bearing an easy fix? can the bearing just be replaced or am I looking at a whole new tensioner and how much does that usually cost? Sorry for the long post but am at my witts end. Have been a boat owner 30 years and never had this many issues before. Thanks Joe
