Yes, the outlet from the strainer goes to the exhaust. Why are you running it with the cap off? You will burn up the exhaust hoses. Did you have water to the drive as well? If not you may have burned up your impeller.
I only ran it for a few seconds after a plug wire change how can i find out if i broke anything? Its my first boat i guess i should have done some reading first i figured with the closed cooling system it would be ok..
