Volvo DP-A 2.30 to 1.95 Swap

Gentlemen-
I have a 95' Volvo Penta Dual Prop DP-A (I think) which came with a 180hp 4.3 vortec engine. After I froze the engine it to death, I re-powered with a 320hp 5.7. Now, as expected, my 2.30 lower gear ratio does not do this motor justice and is easily limited by RPM and not drag. Now, don't get me wrong, this 19ft hyrdoswift boat now lurches out of the water like a breaching whale, but I know this is not the correct combo and would like to get into a 1.95 gear ratio for an improved upper end at WOT, currently RPM limited to about 48mph indicated. What are my odds of finding someone willing to do a lower unit trade? I currently have B-7 props, and I do understabd that B-8s are available, but I don't think that will nearly accomplish what I need to accomplish...Thoughts?

You probably never will find anyone wanting to swap a 1.95 for a 2.30. Most upgrades in boats are to a bigger engine, not smaller. I would bet you can find a lot of people wanting to swap a 2.30 for a 1.95 as you are wanting to do, for the same reason.
You can try bigger props but I would bet 1 step is not enough. Might check the prop forum and see if anyone else has done a similar prop swap.

Okay, thats kinda what I figured. Thanks! I will check the Prop section to see what I can find. Sure wish a set of props wasn't $800!
