Hello All newbie here!
I have a 1999 Four winns Vista, 5.7 GSI Volvo duo prop,
I was out a couple weeks ago leaving a dock and when going into forward gear - there was nothing there. I moved the throttle a little bit more forward and it brought the rpms up and it went into gear kind of hard since the rpms were up. As I made my way back to the marina I stopped a couple of times more with the same result. It does go into reverse as it should. Each time I went back into forward I had to give it a little more throttle to get it to engage.
When back at the marina I took the cover off the drive and removed the shift linkage, had the boat runnig at idle and tried to shift it into forward and reverse from the back of the drive (no shifter or cable). The boat will go into reverse normally. When I shift into the forward position the - it goes into position but no forward gear.
I brought the boat home on the trailer, shift it into forward with the engine off and it seems to "slip" as I push on the props while in the forward gear position. It holds firm in reverse. I did'nt see a "clutch" in the parts break down, it there a clutch set up? for reverse and forword?
Sorry for the long question.
Thanks for any help - Great site!!
Tim
