Re: volvo engine identification

The engine is the AQ170A. It is a 170 hp inline 6 cyl. Its volvo's own 182 cu/in engine. Its max rpm is 5000 and has 9.5:1 compression ratio. Will need 93 octane fuel.
I had to siphon the gas from the tank to the pump. I actually sucked on the fuel line to get it to prime. Needless to say I got a mouth full of fuel.:/ But it did work!
I have a 75 Glaston myself.
Welcome to I-Boats by the way.

2 gallons isn't very much, and if you have the bow of the boat too low and the fuel tank is also bow down then there is no way you are going to get fuel to the pump, all you will get is air.
If you can't raise the bow higher, then you are going to have to put more fuel in it.
If you do have it bow up, you may have an air leak in some of your connections, and all you get is air, no gas.
Then you have to find the leak and fix it.
Using the wrong size clamps can cause air leaks. On fuel lines you need the narrow mini clamps on that small a fitting. The larger clamps leave flat spots.

I assume that since ya said revive, its been sitting idle a while. You have a bit of work to do. First thing, Get a manual for the engine and drive. Next order an impeller for the water pump. You know the history of the boat? how many hours on it? It will need a complete tune up. Dist. cap, wires, plugs, points, fuel filter. Check all the rubber components. Bellows, fuel lines, hoses, exaust flapper.
My boat was bought this yr, and had set up since 96. All those items had to be replaced. Fuel pump included. I was lucky, to this day the boat only has 120 hrs since new. Alot of work had to be done, but I found it had been well worth it all. Best money I ever spent for the family.

thanks for the info, boat was actually on the water in 05, so far i have ordered an owners manual for it,drained all gas, blew out gasline, changed fuel seperater filter, drained water from cooling system, this will be my first boat ownership so i will probably be on here alot. the outdrive needs a housing part but before i order it i want to make sure motor runs. this will be a project for me and my 14 year old son this winter
