I started to get a small whine from the fuel cell when I was at Lake Powell. It seemed to go away, but was still there later . I was hoping it could last till I got home to pull it apart, which it did. Boat ran fine, no loss of power at any range. Today I pulled it off and disassembled it all. I liked where they put resin in the torque screws to keep me from looking inside. I could not find any screens in either the suction or discharge of the low or high pressure pumps. The housing looked very good, no corrosion or paint flakes like others have reported. I checked for cooling water flow, and that looked good also. One thing I did find, was when I took off my filter/separator, the rubber gasket came off also. It seemed way to soft and pliable, like the gas had softened it. It also would not go back on. Maybe I was getting an air leak there. The engine is a 2001 Volvo 5.7 GSI. I sure wish I could have something obvious but I am going to check the tank vent, and the anti syphon valve.
Any ideas from you experienced fuel experts. I am afraid the wife will croak if I have to buy the whole nine yards. Dave-R
