I found a 1979 Volvo Penta 45 hp and 5 gal gas tank. The moter and tank have never had gas in them. The motor has never been used, still in box.<br />He wants $1,500 Canadian for it, is that too much?
Volvo Penta outboards never really got a good reputation. The Swedish car manufacturer took over Archimedes outboards in 1973 and closed the outboard division in 1979. Parts are hard to get, reliability unknown, performance below the average 79'er, comsumption fair (79 standards).<br /><br />Personally I'd hesitate to go to sea with one of these things.<br /><br />Better look for a bargain on a known (existing) brand with a service point nearby.<br />Just my 2 cents.
