Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-C will not start

The motor is a 2005, I've had it for 7 years without any major issues. Last week we headed out and about 30 myinutes into the trip at around 3400 rpms the motor stumbled and died. I was able to get it started after about 25 minutes but there was a miss and it would not idle.

I was towed home and it will turn over but will not fire. I have 12 volts at the ignition coil and spark on all 4 wires. The spark is orange but it will jump almost an inch to ground so I am not sure if it has weak spark since the color is not blue.

I changed distributor cap and rotor, new wires, new plugs and it will not fire over. I bypassed the kill switch lanyard and no change.

Fuel is squirting in the carb, and cylinder 4 showed signs of gas on it from the several attempts to start. Tried to start it with the gas cap open to see if it was the vent clogged up but no change.

It has to be something simple, but I am at a loss as my next step on troubleshooting.

Start with removing the fuel filter and dump the contents into a clear container. Look for anything that is not clean gas.

If that's good look to see if the carb is flooding the motor.
How does it do with the first start in the morning?

If its not flooding, and gas is clean, then it may be the distributor module (item 14) or coil (item 7)

I will check the gas, normally it starts right up, even in the morning only with a small push of the gas

Ok pulled the bowl and it definitely looks like water is in there(small sample because bowl is so tiny) I have put ethanol free since I pitched it 7 years ago, I’ll try to upload a picture

How would I drain the tank? I have a full 24 gallons because I topped off with 8 gallons before we went out last

The boat is a 2005 Glastron MX175, also if I got bad gas, is the gas station liable at all?

Would any additives help get rid of water in the fuel instead of draining?

Gas station should be liable but doubt you could ever prove it. You could put some heat, dry gas which is alcohol and would absorb some. Assuming you have a spin on canister filter, just change it and keep a spare. The canister will collect it.

Can also remove the tank sender and use a siphon hose to suck out the very bottom of the tank only

I was able to get the motor to fire but it’s too late here to wake up the neighborhood

Most likely won’t have an update until next weekend

I did get the motor to run but it is missing on cylinder #1, I’m going to check compression and take the valve cover off to investigate. Thanks for the help I will start a new thread for the new issue

I have a 1991 four winns and have taken it out, hung out on. Each, shut switch to off and cannot get started. I had friend mechanic replace starter, carb was rebuilt, replaced batteries and did same thing. Took it out yesterday with some friends, hung out at beach then dead. Any ideas?
