Are any of you using this series of Volvo Penta? Looking at my next boat project I am looking at a 26yr old 73ft (22m) 65 ton trawler style. It is of Tiawanese origin so would have inefficient engines compared to modern ones. Quoted at 50 liters/hr at 6 knots. I am sure that replacing them with VP 300's would give me 50% saving in fuel and 50% increase in cruising speed. From your own experience could any of you confirm my conclusions or suggest a more appropriate engine to consider?
