Hey Guys!
In desperate need for some help. My boat recently took on some water, one of my friends left the plug out when launching and took me a few minutes to realise what had happen. I soon jumped in the water to fix the problem.
I’ve completed multiple flushes on the engine so hopefully I haven’t caused any major damage.
We had the boat in operation for about 3 hours after this then suddenly it wouldn’t start.
The engines not getting a spark anymore. From what I could see nothing got wet that should be causing this problem. Perhaps just a coincidence that this problem happen at the same time as the water.
I’ve checked for power and that’s all fine. I replaced the components on the dizzy in case that was failing but still nothing. From what I could tell the ignition coil was working fine. When testing the power running to it I could only find 11.2 Volts. I thought this may be the problem
I tried to run straight 12 volts from the battery to the coil and blew the thing up. Fingers crossed a replacement coil will fix the whole problem but just wanted to check and see if anyone else had any thoughts. Thanks heaps
