Volvo Penta 4.3 or merCruiser 4.3

I am Restoring a 1993 Four Winns Freedom and would like to repower the boat. The boat has a 1993 4.3 Volvo Penta Cobra. The motor has not run four over a year. and the out drive was stollen off the boat, it was an OMC. I come from the Bass Boat world, and don't have much experience with inboard outboard motors.

My question is which of the two are the most reliable.The Volvo Penta 4.3 or MerCruiser 4.3. any help or info would be appreciated.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... They're pretty darn Equal in that department,.... They start as the Same long block motor,...

A replacement Volvo drive, 'n Long Blockin' yer motor would be the logical answer,...
