Hello,
My starter motor on the on the engine in this title has started barley turning over this engine sparatically but seems to be getting worse the past few times I've used it. It starts by barley turning over then stops for a second then turnes over fast enough to start the engine, and getting to the point where I turn the key and there is nothing, no clicking, nothing, just dead, try I few more times and it does as previously mentioned and starts.
Initially I thought the cause was a weak battery, tried two differant fully charged Deep Cycle Batteries, one has 650CC amps, no change. Just tried replacing the cable terminal ends with the type that are held on to the cables with the set screw that tightens on the cable, not sure I like these, may solder on some ends or get new cables all together.
I worked the starter a little bit earlier this June trying to prove out why the engine would fire up but not run issue I was having, only to find out that the kill switch had a loose connection and had fallen off, but to prove it by testing for power from the relay... and then finding out that the fuel pump was also acting up and wore out and was quiting while driving the boat or when starting it once I repaired the kill switch issue, then replaced the fuel pump as well, may have wore it right out and not really sure when if ever it was replaced/rebuilt before, just had it since late last Aug.
Any idea's if this problem is starter or possibly bad connections on the starter or ground, has the rubber boots protecting the connections on the starter, pulled the hot side boot off to look, was a bit rusty but did not pull it off as its a ways down to get at, guess I can pull the back seat out to get at it.
