Recently picked up a nice 1999 Four Winns Horizon 170 with the volvo penta 4.3L. I’d consider myself pretty mechanically inclined, but this is my first boat.
Took it out yesterday, 4th of July, of all days...with the entire family. Happy 4th!! This was after a recent starter replacement and new battery, fluid checks, and a few pre runs with muffs to make sure everything was good.
As soon as we got out, it ran for about 10mins at slow speed, then all of a sudden it shut down, no clicking, no turning over...notta. I did happen to notice the stereo was blinking fast beforehand and while running, the gauges every 20seconds or so would shut down and reset, followed by a beep. As soon as I got it home, checked the battery- good, and was able to start er up again. Any ideas?!
I do need to drain the old fuel out, boat was sitting for 3-4 years winterized condition.
I’m new to boating, but would love to get the growing family out. Any help would be greatly appreciated....
