We have a 1995 Cobalt 200 with the Volvo Penta FL engine. This weekend while we were out we noticed the RPM gauge fluctuating all over the place and then the boat started missing a little. It never died but something is not right. Any ideas???

Go to negative side of the coil and there will be two wires on it. One goes to the gauge the other goes to the distributer , remove the wire going to the gauge. If the engine starts running OK afterwards, your gauge is going bad or you have a short in the wire going to the gauge (most times its the gauge)
