2001 Hurricane Deck Boat with a Volvo Penta GI Motor
Boat has been running beautifully until recently started to idle rough and shut off.
Took it to a Mechanic and gave a complete maintenance also changed fuel pump and injectors with a couple of sensors like AIC Sensor and Map Sensor. and the Boat Still idles rough and wants to shut off... when you give it gas/throttle it chokes up and wants to shut off and back fires. Now They are saying that it can be the ECM/ECU.. Can ANYONE Please HELP...

Do you happen to know if the they verified ignition timing both at idle RPM and under load/way RPM and fuel pressure too?

Are you able to power through the rough idle, chokes up and wants to shut off and back fire syndromes?

Sounds like your mechanic is just a parts changer. Spends your money without doing any testing. Has the motor been scanned for codes?
